Detroit

After a flawless border crossing, Detroit was simply our one night pit-stop. The city left a weird impression on us. Its post-apocalyptic vibe was eerie. Whether in small neighborhoods or in the downtown core, everywhere we turned there were abandoned buildings, mansions with dilapidated porches or crumbling roofs, or other condemned properties. We've heard that its possible to buy old houses in the city for $1 dollar. After paying for all the necessary documents and legal fees it would total around $2000. As tempting as it might sound, buying property in this dying city likely isn't the best investment. An interesting stat: over the past 50 years the population has dropped from around 1.8 million to 950,000, which explains all the abandoned places.
